  1. Khara bath:- dry roast ½ cup rava on low flame until it turns aromatic. keep aside.
  2. In a kadai heat 2 tbsp ghee and splutter 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp urad dal, 1 tsp chana dal, 10 cashew and few curry leaves.
  3. Add ½ onion and saute until it shrinks slightly. - Add 1 inch ginger, 1 chilli, slit and saute well.
  4. Now add 1 tomato and saute until tomatoes turn soft. - also add 3 beans, ½ carrot, 2 tbsp peas and 1 tsp salt.
  5. Stir fry for 2 minutes or until veggies are cooked yet crunchy. - furthermore add ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp vangi bath masala powder and saute until spices turn aromatic.
  6. Pour 1½ cup water and give a good stir andd bring to a rolling boil.
  7. Keeping the flame on low adding roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously.
  8. Now mix continuously till the rava absorbs water
  9. Cover and simmer on low flame for 5 minutes or till upma are cooked well.
  10. Turn off the flame and add 2 tbsp coconut, 2 tbsp coriander, 1 tsp lemon juice. mix well. Finally, serve khara bath with coconut chutney, rava kesari .
  11. For kesari bath:- in a pan add 2 tbsp ghee and roast 7 cashew, 2 tbsp raisins on low flame. - - once it turns golden brown, keep aside.
  12. In the remaining ghee add ½ cup rava and roast for 5 minutes on low flame. Keep aside.
  13. In a kadhai get 1½ cup water to a rolling boil. - Add roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously.
  14. The rava will absorb all the water and turns a lump-free mixture. - Now add ½ cup sugar and continue to stir, sugar dissolves completely and gets absorbed by rava.
  15. Further add ¼ cup ghee and 3 drops yellow food colour. adding food colour is completely optional.
  16. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes making sure rava is cooked completely. - Add roasted cashew, raisins and ½ tsp cardamom powder. - Mix well making sure everything is well combined.
