- Use 1/2 kg Cooked Mutton(usually we take mutton from mutton kolambu)
- Provide 100 gm small onions(chopped)
- Provide 2 red chillies
- You need 1 tbsp Melagu araichadhu(masala paste)
- Take 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- Prepare 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Prepare 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- Prepare Salt as required
- You need Few pieces of Coconut
- Use Mutton kolambu (optional)
Instructions to make Kongu spl Mutton Varuval:
- Prepare melagu paste. Usually we prepare this to make mutton kolambu and keep a little amount aside to add it in mutton Varuval. To make this paste:. Fry small onions(5-6), 3 red chillies, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, pepper, cumin seeds, rice, coriander seeds/powder in peanut oil, allow it to cool and grind it as coarse paste.
- Heat peanut oil in a pan, fry chopped small onions, curry leaves and 2 chillies until cooked.
- Add ground (araicha melagu) paste, salt as required and fry until cooked well.
- Add cooked mutton(separated from mutton kolambu or just pre cooked mutton) into this, add turmeric powder a pinch, add some water, mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Optional: We usually add some mutton kolambu (mutton gravy) into this and cook for 5 minutes for more taste.
- Once the water content is reduced, add coconut pieces and cook for 2 minutes and the mutton varuval (fry) is ready to serve.
- And there you go… Spicy, mouth watering, finger licking, kongu special mutton varuval.
- Optional: Once the fry is transferred to the serving vessel, there will be masala left in the frying pan. I will give a suggestion to make a recipe out of it. And that is called VADA SATTI SORU.
- Add boiled rice to the pan.
- Mix it thoroughly with the masala sticking to the pan. And vadasatti soru is ready.
