The ingredients needed to cook Idli sambar:
- You need For idli
- Prepare 2 cup rice
- Take 1 cup white urad dal
- Provide 1/2 cup poha
- Use to taste Salte
- Prepare For sambhar
- Get 1 cup arhar dal
- Use 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Take to taste Salt
- Get 2-3 tsp oil
- Prepare 1/2 mustard seed
- Get 10-12 Curry leaves
- Take 2 chopped onion
- Prepare 3 tomato chopped
- Use 3 tbs sambhar masala
- Use 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Provide 1 chopped brinjal
- Provide 4 tbsp Tamarind pull
- Prepare 1/2 cup chopped bottle gourd (optional)
- Take 1 pinch Hing (asafoetida)
- Take 2-3 whole red chilli
Instructions to make Idli sambar:
- Wash and soak rice,poha and urad dal separately for 4-5 hours
- Drain and blend in a blender together with salt and poha till smooth better
- Transfer the batter in a big bowl and cover and keep to ferment for 6-8 hours
- Add some water in batter make fine consistency and grease the iddli molds and pour the better in each mold.
- Steam that idlies for 15 -20 minutes..
- Your idlies is ready
- For sambhar:
- Wash the dal add it in a pressure cooker with salt,Hing and turmeric powder.
- Cook till done.
- Take a pan add oil when the oil is hot add mustard seed whole red chilli and curry leaves
- Add onion and fry for 2 minutes
- Then add tomatoes,brinjal and bottle gourd
- Add sambhar masala, chilli powder
- Then add some water and cook till brinjal and Lauki is soft
- Then add the cooked dal, tamarind pulp
- Cook for another 4-5 minutes
- Serve hot with idlies
- Add sambhar masala
