The ingredients needed to cook Mango sambar:
- Prepare 2 tbsp Oil
- You need 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Prepare 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
- You need 1 tsp Urad dal
- You need Curry leaves 1 sprig
- Take garlic cloves 5 nos
- You need 1 tsp Hing powder
- Take Red chilli 2 nos
- Use Green chilli 2 nos

- Prepare Tomato 1 nos
- Prepare Mango 1 nos
- Get 1 cups Toor dal
- Take Tamarind juice- small lemon size 1 nos
- Get 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- You need 1 tsp Chilli powder
- Use 1 tbsp Sambar powder
Instructions to make Mango sambar:
- Wash toor dal and cook well in a pressure cooker along with 2 garlic, turmeric powder, green chilli, Hing powder and salt for 2 whistles.
- Soak a lemon sized tamarind in a water for 15 mins and take the juice.
- In a pan add oil, when it is hot add red chilli, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal,remaining garlic,Hing powder and Curry leaves. When spluttering add onions and tomato, mix it well and cook till it becomes mushy.
- Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and sambar powder. Mix well till the raw smell goes.
- Add the cubed mango pieces and mix well to the masala.
- Now mash the cooked dal and add to the onion tomato masala.
- Keep the flame in medium low and cover it for 5 mins, mix it in between to avoid burning.
- Now extract the juice from the tamarind that is soaked in water and add to the dal. Add more water to this if you according to your consistency and let it boil for 15 mins in medium low.
- Now switch off and have the tasty mango sambar with hot steamed rice.
