The ingredients needed to cook Mohanthaal:

- Use For dhrabo 300 gram besan
- Take 2 tablespoon milk
- Use 2 tablespoon melted ghee
- Take For making Mohanthaal 250 gram ghee 1/2 cup milk powder pistachios and almonds for garnishing Few strands of saffron Poppyseeds (Khus khus) for garnishing
- Take 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Take 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Prepare Orange food colour
- Provide For making sugar syrup Juice of 1/2 lemon 350 gram sugar 250 ml water
Instructions to make Mohanthaal:
- Method for dhrabo. - In a bowl add the gram flour, melted ghee and milk. Rub the mixture in between your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs. Let it rest for half an hour. - Sieve the dhrabo thru medium hole sieve or you can pulse it in food processor until it resembles bread crumbs.
- Method for sugar syrup - In a pan add sugar and water and let it simmer to 1 thread consistency. Add yellow food colour to the syrup at this stage. Add lemon juice so it does not crystallised.
- In a wide wok add ghee and the dhrabo mix and cook on medium heat until it is golden brown and ghee separates from the flour.
- Remove from heat and add milk powder, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and mix well. Leave it aside until the mixture is warm. - Pour the hot sugar syrup in the mixture and mix until all syrup is fully incorporated.
- In a greased plate transfer the Mohanthaal and garnish with pistachios, almonds, saffron and poppyseeds. Let it set for few hours and cut into pieces.
