- Use 3 medium sized potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed)
- Use 2 tbsp oil or clarified butter
- Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Take 1 tsp fennel seeds
- Get 2 pinch asafoetida
- You need 1 tsp grated ginger
- You need 5-6 curry leaves
- You need 1 tsp kasuri methi
- You need 2 green chillies slit or chopped
- Prepare 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Take 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Use 1 tsp coriander powder
- Use 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- You need 1 tomato pureed or grated
- Get 1/2 cup whisked fresh yoghurt
- Get to taste Salt
- Provide as needed Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions to make Dahi Aloo:
- Heat oil in a wok on low medium flame.
- Add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and asafoetida. Saute for few seconds.
- Add in the grated ginger, curry leaves, kasuri methi and green chillies. Saute for few seconds.
- Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Saute on low flame.
- Add grated tomato, saute till oil starts leaving the sides of masala.
- Further add in the whisked yoghurt and give a quick mix.
- Now add 1 1/2 cups water, mashed potato, salt and garam masala powder. Mix well and let it cook for 2-3 minutes on low medium flame.
- Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with steamed rice and chapatis.
