The ingredients needed to make Moong Dal Dahi Vada:
- Use 1 cup yellow moong dal
- Prepare 1 green chilli chopped
- Take 2 tsp ginger
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Take Oil for frying
- Use 2 cups lukewarm water
- You need 2 cups whisked yoghurt
- Prepare 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
- Use 2 tbsp green chutney
- You need 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- Use 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- Take to taste Black salt
- Provide 2 tsp sugar
- Use Chopped coriander for garnishing
Steps to make Moong Dal Dahi Vada:
- Wash and soak the moong dal in enough water for 4-5 hours.
- Strain the water from soaked dal.
- Take this soaked dal in a blender jar, add in the green chilli and ginger to it. Add 2-3 tsp water and grind the dal till it forms a smooth paste.
- Take out this dal mixture in a bowl, add salt. Whisk it for 2-3 minutes.
- Heat oil in a wok on medium flame.
- Now take small-small portions from the dal mixture and put them in heated oil to form fritters.
- Fry these fritters on medium till they starts turning golden brown in colour.
- Take them out and immediately add into the lukewarm water and cover it for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes take them out and squeeze out the excess water with light hands.
- Assemble the vadas in a serving dish.
- Add black salt and sugar to the whisked yoghurt and mix well.
- Pour this whisked curd over the vadas. Garnish with tamarind chutney, green chutney, cumin powder, red chilli powder and coroander.
