- Prepare 1 cup black urad dal
- Take 1 tbsp Rajma
- Use 1 tbsp chana dal
- Take 1 badi elaichi
- Provide 1 stick dalchini(cinnamon)
- Get 1-2 laung(cloves)
- Take as required Water
- Provide 2 onions
- Use 4 red tomatoes
- Take 1 spoon besan
- Get 1/2 cup Fresh cream
- Use as required Homemade butter or amul butter
- Use 1-2 Green chillies
- Get 1 tsp Garam masala
- Take 1 tsp Kasoori methi
- Get 1 tsp coriander powder
- Get 1 tsp jeera powder
- Get to taste Salt
- Prepare 1/2 tsp Jeera/cumins
- Get 1 pinch Hing
- Get 1 Tej patta (bay leaf)
- Take 3-4 tbsp ghee/ oil
- Prepare 3-4 tbsp Ginger garlic chopped
- Take as per taste Kashmiri red chilli powder
- You need as required Coriander leaves
Instructions to make Dal Makhani:
- Soak Dal, Rajma and chana dal for over night.
- In morning wash it properly and then put it in pressure cooker. Add salt, dalchini, badi elaichi,tej patta and 2 laung add water to it. Boil it for 5 whistles and then keep it in sim flame for 20 mins.
- Let it cool and in the mean time prepare tadka for it.
- Take a wok. Add 3-4 tbsp ghee or oil to it. Let it heat and then add jeera and hing to it. Add chopped ginger garlic to it. Saute for few seconds and add chopped onions and green chilies to it fry until golden brown now add besan to it roast it for 2-3 mins now add chopped tomatoes to it (you can add puree of tomatoes also but chopped gives good flavour although it depends on you whether to add chopped or puree).Add dry masala and little salt to it Cook it for 3-4 mins.
- Once done add cream to it. Again it depends on u if u want to make it more rich and creamy u can add little more cream to it. Mix it properly in low flame for 1-2 mins and add kasoori methi and cook for 2 mins
- Now add cooked dal to it and then add lots of water to it. Once starts boiling add butter to it. Cook it in sim flame for 1 hour. Keep stirring in between.
- Now before serving take a wok add butter in it. Once it melts add kashmiri red chilli powder and then add the dal u want to serve to it. It really gives nice colour and taste to dal. Finally before serving add coriander leaves and cream.
